Personal Projects: A Day of Chemo
I first met Renee ten years ago when we both worked at the Lance Armstrong Foundation...teammates doing our part in the fight against cancer. When I learned she had breast cancer in the summer of 2008 I was shocked and saddened, but knew my spunky friend would fight the disease in the same fashion she appoached all aspects of her life...with grace, strength, and a kick-ass positive spirit.
Renee was diagnosed in July 2008 with stage II breast cancer and had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery that August followed by chemo and radiation until June 2009. She had a failed reconstruction in March 2012 and is undergoing a bilateral DIEP flap reconstructive surgery August 13, 2012.
Renee is now cancer free (Eeeeehhhhh!!!! as we like to say :) and she continues to inspire me. xo
